“Lost in Japan, the triptyque winner of the Red Submission Prize at the Segal Center of Montreal in 2012, is directly related to the Tsunami that afflicted Japan in that same year. It depicts a sage and a knight preventing the nuclear accident that happened in Japan of becoming a larger catastrophe. Its main intention is raising ecological awareness among the public.

The technique used in this painting allowed me to create an illusion that can be viewed in two different positions. The work can be put “upside down” to express another feeling in relation to the same event.” – Raymond Nylund
